Dr. Paul Pao Yeh, Honorary Professorship in China




雹字冰雨。1927年出生于松陽縣西屏北街仁壽坊。是辛亥革命者教育家葉慶崇之幼子。1949年肄業于南京中央大學1951年獲加拿大多倫多大學電机

工程學士,1960年和1966年獲美國賓州大學電机工程碩士和哲學博士,与江澤民主席同為顧毓秀教授的親密門生.

1951年至1956年任加拿大通用電器公司設計工程師負責設計分析發展變壓器

工作.1956年至1957年擔任美國紐約大學助教授.1957年至1960年在美國東部几

個電器公司任高級工程師負責設計變壓器的分析發展工作.


1960年至1966年在美國新澤西州理工學院任副教授。1967年至1978年兼任美國加州長堤州立大學的教授.


1966年在美國洛克維爾公司任主任分析工程師發展了全球第一次用計算

机控制的空對空導彈的發射應用系統。改良了當時的 F-111 戰斗机的戰斗力.


1970年至1972年,在美國洛克希德公司任高級參謀工程師負責研究發展反潛

艇作戰系統。


1972年,在麥克唐納道格拉斯公司任高級工程師/科學家,參加管理反飛彈作戰系統的設計研究工作。1973年至1978年在美國太空公司任技術參謀工程師,研究發展空軍的全球

衛星定位(GPS)系統和衛星導航系統以及空軍的航空通訊系統。


1978年至1989年,在洛克希德公司SKUNK WORKS 參加研究發展和改良

F-117A 隱形戰斗攻擊机,設計和改良U-2SR-71偵察机的隱形技術, 也幫助改良P-3S-3反潛艇戰斗机以及過去的F-111戰斗轟炸机. 最后參与設計F-22,

F-35等作戰飛机的飛行電子系統。同時研究發展空電系統,電子作戰系統,

以及核武器的防衛技術。


1989年至2002任美國尖端系統研究公司首席科學家。 (See List 1)


雹博士是高級電子工程師,航天航空科學家,是教育家,也是國際著名學

者。他在電子科學与技術和机載電子設備的研制,飛机、軍艦、導彈的隱形技

術,控電系統,電子作戰,反潛艇戰以及核子武器防衛技術等方面都具有很高

的造詣。自1951年以來,先后在美國和聯協友幫各有關部門發表了机密和非机

密的論文和學術報告百篇以上。


雹博士在學術上的杰出成就獲得了美國等有關國家的廣泛承認和尊重,在

美國及國際同行中有很大影響,名列英,美兩國多項名人錄。(See List 2)


他曾被推選為美國南加州中華科學家工程師協會會長和中央大學南加州校友會會長。


雹是國際電子協會永久資深會員。美國經理人員協會永久資深會員。美

國空軍協會會員 ,隱形戰斗机協會會員, 海軍協會會員, 陸軍協會會員,

美國電子戰協會會員, 電子通訊協會會員, 美國國防工厂協會會員,

美國紐約州科學院會員, 加拿大工程師協會會員等多种協會成員。


鑒于葉 雹博士在學術上的卓越成就和國際上的威望,以及他對祖國大學建

設的熱情關怀,自1992年受顧毓秀教授推荐接受清華大學校長張孝文專門邀請

訪問講學后,一連十年授邀祖國有關大學教學航空電路和電子科學与技術。現

為:清華大學、華南理工大學訪問教授,北京航空航天大學、浙江工業大學名

譽教授,上海科技大學、西北工業大學顧問教授,浙江大學、東南大學、南京

航空航天大學、廣州五邑大學客座教授,北京市對外科學技術交流協會名譽理

事,浙江省科技交流中心名譽顧問和浙江省出國留學人員家屬聯誼會顧問。


List 1.

In 1966 Yeh joined North American Aviation in Anaheim, California as Supervisor of Performance Analyses Section. He developed the Air-to-air Missile launch and Control Mechanization for the F-111 fighter/ bomber aircraft.

In 1970 he went to Lockheed California Company as a Senior Research and Development Engineer. In 1978 Dr. Yeh started to work at the Lockheed Skunk Works on various advanced development projects such as F-117 and F-22 stealth aircraft, U-2 and SR-71 reconnaissance aircraft and other undisclosed programs.

In between his Lockheed assignments he spent one year at the MacDonnell Douglas Astronautics Company (1972-73) as Senior Engineer/Scientist worked on Missile Site Defense System and 5 years at The Aerospace Corporation (1973-1978) worked on GPS, AFSACOM, DSCS II , and other Air Force projects. He retired from Lockheed Skunk Works and The Aerospace Corporation in 1989.


Since 1989, Dr. Yeh has been Chief Scientist at the Advanced Systems Research Inc in Pasadena, California.

Dr. Yeh has received many honors for his work and is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in American Science and Engineering, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in California, Asian Who? in America, Dictionary of International Biography (England) and One Thousand Great Americans (England).

He is an Honorary Director of the Beijing Association for Science and Technology Exchange with Foreign Countries and an Honorary Advisor to the Zhejiang Science and Technology Exchange Center.

The Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Zhejiang Unversity of Science and Technology have given him the title "Honorary Professor".

Dr. Yeh has received an Achievement Award from the Lockheed-California Company on Anti-Submarine-Warfare Magnetic Anomaly Detection System Mechanization.

He has published over 100 classified and unclassified book reports, articles and papers.

Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Life member of the National Management Association, Life Member of the Chinese American Engineers/Scientists Association of Southern California (President 1969-71) and Life Member of the National Central University Alumni Association of Southern California (President 1978). He is also a member of the Stealth Fighters Association, The Association of Old Crows, the Air Force Association, the Naval Institute, the Association of US Army, the National Defense Industrial Association, as well as the Armed Force Electronics and Communications Association, the New York Academy of Science, and The Professional Engineers, Ontario, Canada.

Paul Pao Yeh was born in
Song-Yang, Zhejiang, China on March 25, 1927. He is married to Beverley Pamela Eng of Victoria, B.C., Canada. They have a daughter (Judith Elaine) and three sons (Paul Edmond, Richard Alvin, and Ronald Timothy) . In his leisure time, Dr. Yeh enjoys research on computer applications, traveling, sight-seeing, visiting historical sites, photography and gardening.
